Progamme éducatif à Montréal

Over the course of this theoretical workshop, participants will discover the history of visual performance practices. Examples of contemporary practices will be presented, as well as the different types of image projection equipment used in the creation of visual performances, including 16mm, overhead and digital projectors. Techniques for manipulating the image will also be explored, including the use of prisms, filters, synthesizers and computer software.

Goal: Participants will learn the various projection possibilities available as well as techniques for manipulating images live.


Lors de cet atelier théorique, l'on parcourt l'historique des pratiques de performance visuelles, des exemples de pratiques contemporaines seront présentés ainsi que les dispositifs qui émettent de la lumière pour présenter des images dans un contexte de performance, notamment les projecteurs 16mm, les rétroprojecteurs et les projecteurs numériques. Des techniques pour moduler les images en direct sont aussi étudiées, telles que les prismes, les filtres, les synthétiseurs et les logiciels.

Objectif : Le participant connait les différents médiums de projection et technique de modulation d’image en direct.

Instructor : Allison Moore

Allison Moore is an artist, educator and cultural operator. Originally from Vancouver Island she is based in Montreal and has produced projects in Brazil, Cuba, Australia, and the UK. Allison achieved a BFA degree with Honors in Interdisciplinary Arts and Video Production at the University of Concordia in 2005. She has since developed projects in video, animation and interactive computing as an invited artist at Studio XX, OBORO and the Society of Arts and Technology in Montreal. She is an active member at Atelier Graff in Montreal creating works in print media. Allison is co-founder of Egotrip Productions with Arthur Desmarteaux, collaborating together since 2006 to produce performances, public art projects and exhibitions. Since 2007 Allison has instructed intensive workshops in video production and animation at Gulf Island Film School (G.I.F.T.S. School) in British Columbia.
