Une toute nouvelle initiative voit le jour à DHC/ART: un(e) artiste est invité(e) à concevoir un atelier pour DHC/ART-Éducation tout en suivant la ligne thématique de l’exposition en cours:
Par les yeux du surveillant sera donc le premier projet offert.
Élaborée par l’artiste montréalaise Emmanuelle Léonard, cette création est basée sur les thèmes et approches de l’exposition Chroniques d’une disparition. Les participants feront l’observation d’une série de séquences vidéo réalisées à partir des caméras de surveillance de la Fondation. En petits groupes, ceux-ci devront procéder à la sélection d’images issues de ces séquences, en se basant sur des critères proposés par l’artiste. Ils imprimeront ensuite ces images pour, individuellement, décrire l’essence de celles-ci en une courte phrase qui sera ensuite apposée à l’image sur un des murs de la salle éducative. Ces sélections accumulées, amalgame d’images et textes, seront le matériau de base pour une œuvre réalisée par Emmanuelle Léonard qui sera présentée à un Happening qui clôturera le projet et l’exposition en cours.

As a new initiative, DHC/ART invites an artist to conceive a hands-on workshop for the education program to be presented within the framework of its current exhibition:
Par les yeux du surveillant / Through the Eyes of the Monitor is the first of these projects created by artist Emmanuelle Léonard.
Aimed at an exploration of the themes and approaches put forth in the exhibition Chronicles of a Disappearance, participants will be presented with a sequence of footage that has been captured by the foundation’s surveillance cameras. In small discussion groups, participants will select images from this footage based on given criteria, which will then be printed. The participants will each individually describe the essence of one of these images in a brief sentence, which will be displayed alongside the image in the Education Room. These accumulated images and texts will provide the content for a collaborative piece that will be created by Emmanuelle Léonard and presented at our closing event.
